wardrobe styling service

Another amazing woman I met at Project Entrepreneur in New York was Jeannine Adams. She is the founder of Ready Pretty, a wardrobe styling service online.

About Ready Pretty

Ready Pretty is the (mostly) online, virtual wardrobe styling service that lets every woman have their very own personal stylist. With the help of a fashion expert, every woman can look good and feel good in personalized wardrobe and style recommendations sent straight to her inbox based on her style needs, body type and budget. It’s a fun process that results in a customized virtual closet that takes the guesswork out of getting dressed.

  1. What/who inspired you to start your company?

I’ve always believed that fashion is transformative. I’ve seen with my own eyes the confidence that the right outfit can give to a woman. For years I’d helped friends and family get into outfits that helped them not only look good, but feel good. I wanted to give that same feeling to more women through a company that helped women with something that they do everyday – get dressed. I’d worked as a fashion writer and editor, as a fashion contributor on the local news station and had helped so many women. Creating Ready Pretty was the natural next step for me.

  1. If you could have any super power what would it be and why?

Not really sure if it’s a super power but more of a request. I wish I could have more time in the day or another day of the week. There’s never enough time! I just need a few more hours in the day to feel like I’m getting all of my jobs right – being a mom, a wife and running my business.  Every day is a challenge to get it all done, but also an opportunity to be the very best that I can be.

  1. Tell us a story/incident that happened while starting or running your company that may have made you feel defeated. Now tell us how you overcame that.

I’m a stickler for making things look good – and when I started out I knew that I needed a website that reflected a brand that people wanted to be a part of. At the time, I was unable to hire a full web development and branding team, so I had to figure it out myself. I took the time to really learn and grow my design and web development skills in order to create my own site. It was a struggle for sure, but I’m so happy that I was forced to learn those skills as its served me well as Ready Pretty continues to grow.  While I hope to one day outsource this function, I’m pleased with how far of come and the look and feel of Ready Pretty online.

  1. Have you ever been underestimated simply for being a woman? Tell us how.

I’ve been lucky enough in my career to be treated as an equal in most professional settings. Before starting Ready Pretty, I was the Director of Content Marketing at a major advertising agency in Chicago, and part of a  leadership team of men who treated me as an equal. I worked hard from the get go to to prove myself as a leader and equal and was treated as such. While I know not all women are afforded the same opportunities, I fought hard for my seat at the table and a voice within my agency. My time learning the ropes in creative agencies throughout my professional career truly prepared me to start my own company.

  1. Are you working on any upcoming projects you can tell us about?

We’re getting ready to launch an entirely new service offering to our users that I’m really excited about. We’re really tapping into an insight on the way women shop.  With so many of us busier than ever, it’s less about casually perusing around stores and boutiques for hours on end, and more about searching for certain things within our budget that makes us look and feel good in a time crunch! Our new offering will help women not only save time, but also dress their very best.

In addition, we’re partnering with more and more local boutiques and brands to put unique fashion recommendations in front of our users. It’s very important to support small independent shops as much as we do the bigger brands. We’re starting this expansion first in our hometown of Chicago but will be expanding this effort to other markets as we continue to grow.

  1. What are your goals with the company?

My goal will always remain the same for Ready Pretty – I want to help as many women as possible feel good in the clothing that they wear everyday. A great outfit can do wonders for your confidence – whether it’s just a simple outfit for everyday, or a special occasion where you want to look your absolute best. My hope is that we can help all women gain confidence through clothing and take the stress, time and headache out of shopping.
