Will You Be My Gym Buddy?

Have you ever set a goal for yourself and not followed through? That’s probably a silly question.

The majority of us, if not all, have struggled to overcome the challenges we set for ourselves.

While there’s no magic formula for achieving goals, there are strategies you can use to be more successful.

One of these is to find an accountability partner.

Having someone, not only to motivate you but also to keep you accountable for achieving your personal goals can be an incredible asset.

Sometimes you just need to hear that encouragement from someone else. Someone outside your own head.

It's important to motivate yourself from within…

but no one ever said you have to do it alone.

By having an accountability partner, there will be someone there to check in with you or even join you on your journey. This will make goals more attainable and challenges less intimidating.

It’s so important to keep your goals fresh in your mind. Talking to someone who is supporting you can reinforce your desire to achieve results. It will remind you of why you’re doing this in the first place.

Are you trying to make the gym a daily activity? Ask a friend to come along with you or make a commitment to call or text them after every workout. You could even send them a quick video of your blood, sweat, and tears as “proof”.

If you’re starting to cook more, see if someone will try new recipes with you every week. Share tips and tricks with one another and experiment with different methods.

Maybe you’re making it a goal to pursue a hobby you’ve continued to put off. Pick someone who will go on a journey of self-discovery with you. It doesn’t have to be the same hobby. Plan out small steps to achieve your goal and hold each other accountable for following through. Ask for updates from them and talk about your next set of plans.

When you first set a goal, it’s new and exciting, and it feels like nothing could ever stop you from working towards it.

As time goes on, sometimes that desire can fizzle out.

By finding another person to fan the flame, you have a much better chance of sticking to your plans and achieving that goal.

It’s great to be independent.

But we all need a little help sometimes.

When we try to do things on our own, we often have tunnel vision and only see one way to get to our goal.

By allowing others to support and inspire us, we can see other paths that all lead to the same destination. By bouncing ideas off one another, our eyes will be opened to a world of opportunity.

Who are the inspiring and supportive people in your life? Are you inspiring and supporting someone too? We'd love to hear your ideas about accountability partners. Tell us all about it in the comments!
